Kilmeny of the Orchard
The poignant story of a young teacher who must overcome
impossible obstacles to win the girl he loves.
When Eric Marshall's
college friend becomes stricken with health problems, Eric promises to take over
his job as school master in the small village of Lindsay on Prince Edward
Island. As Eric is the son of a wealthy merchant, the position is only a
temporary one. Fully intending to return home to join the family business, Eric
does not intend to develop strong roots in the little town. Fate dismisses his
plan when he encounters a beautiful, mysterious girl named Kilmeny Gordon. They
meet by chance in her family orchard as he was drawn to the melodious notes of
her violin. Her jet black hair, beautiful face, and shy demeanor immediately
capture Eric's heart. Fate deals one more card upon the realization that this
beautiful creature is mute. For the first time in his life, Eric must work hard
to for something he wants badly and prove to Kilmeny that she needn't have a
voice to capture his heart. Her music has already endeared him to her.
