Jane of Lantern Hill
The enchanting story of a young girl's dream to reunite her long-divided
family.
For as long as Jane
Stuart can remember, she has lived with her mother and controlling grandmother
at 60 Gay Street in Toronto, Canada. She has gone to the best schools and is
being molded for a life in high society. Living in a dreary mansion is not quite
enjoyable, and although her mother flits from party to party, Jane notices that
she is not happy. Jane has always been told that her father is dead, but one day
while at school one of her friends tells her a secret...Jane’s mother and
father do not live together because her mother left him after Jane’s birth.
Since divorces were hard to get in Canada at the time, she remained married to
him and is still Mrs. Andrew Stuart. Not too long after Jane realizes she has a
father, a letter from Andrew arrives in the mail for his wife. He wants Jane to
live with him for the summer. Realizing that Jane is his daughter too, her
mother agrees, and Jane is whisked away to live with a man she has never met. As
soon as she lays eyes on her father, she feels a kinship for her father. Their
lives by the shore are perfect, and the three months fly by. Her summer of
freedom is interrupted when she is reluctantly sent back home to be with her
mother for the winter. She forces herself through another year in that dreary
mansion to be rewarded with another three month stint on her island home at
Lantern Hill. Jane realizes that both her parents still love each other, but how
can she bring them back together if they refuse to communicate?
