Emily of New Moon
Emily Byrd Starr is
sent to live with her mother's family at New Moon upon the death of her father.
She is somewhat an outcast from her family as her mother eloped with Douglas
Starr, thus, leaving her family. Emily must grow accustom to her newfound
relatives while playing on the Murray land. Luckily, Saucy Sal, one of her cats,
and the Wind Woman followed her to her strange new home. Even "Emily in the
Mirror" appears from time to time to keep her company. In times of childish
ectasy, the flash envelopes her to remind her of her joyish times with
her father. While she never leaves her old life behind, she soon begins to enjoy
her new life at New Moon. Emily makes new friends to complete the transition.
Ilse, Perry, and Teddy enter her life to add human companionship and comraderie.
Her staunch family grows accustom to her happy childish ways, and Emily suceeds
in winning over both her family and New Moon.
